On April 15, Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam) and Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement.

Petrovietnam and Vinachem sign comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement

The cooperation agreement aims to implement the Government's directive on maximizing the core, guiding, and pioneering role of state-owned enterprises.

Accordingly, the two groups will concentrate on expanding cooperation across various sectors, particularly in training, research, application of science and technology, innovation, and green transition in manufacturing, including products serving the semiconductor industry and knowledge-intensive high-tech sectors.

In parallel, both parties will engage in investment cooperation and equity participation in strategic enterprises and projects. This is considered a solid foundation for Petrovietnam and Vinachem to elevate their partnership, jointly pioneering the creation of new values for the national industrial base.

This cooperation agreement places special emphasis on joint research and production of specialized raw materials, advanced materials, and specialty chemicals serving high-tech industries and the semiconductor industry—fields that demand cutting-edge scientific and technological capabilities.

Therefore, Vinachem, with its strong capabilities in chemical technology, will collaborate with PVN—an entity possessing robust financial resources and large-scale project management expertise—to establish domestic supply chains, contributing to laying the cornerstone for Vietnam's semiconductor industry.

Beyond that, the two groups also aim to manufacture advanced technological products for new energy sectors, electronics, and automation. Concurrently, both sides agreed to promote investment cooperation and capital contributions in key projects across diverse areas to expand operational scale and enhance competitiveness.

Mr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of Petrovietnam, affirmed that this cooperation not only unlocks new growth potential, but also enhances the market standing and competitiveness of each group, making substantial contributions to the sustainable development of the national economy.

According to Mr. Phung Quang Hiep, Chairman of Vinachem, achieving high cooperation efficiency requires clear, time-bound actions, tangible deliverables, and a detailed work catalog to manage, monitor, and accelerate implementation, thereby generating real efficiency for comprehensive strategic cooperation across sectors.

Both sides evaluated that mutual cooperation will generate powerful synergistic effects, improve production and business operational efficiency, promote scientific and technological research, achieve shared accomplishments for the national industry, and deliver long-term benefits to the country.

Previously, Petrovietnam and Vinachem enjoyed effective coordination in raw material supply, fertilizer manufacturing, and chemicals. However, this new agreement marks a more comprehensive development milestone, reflecting a strategic vision to jointly build a modern, integrated industrial ecosystem.
