March 8 each year is an occasion for the world to honor the immense contributions of women in every sphere of social life. It provides an opportunity to reflect on achievements attained and remaining challenges in the path toward gender equality.
In 2025, celebrating the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day under the theme "Women in the Digital Transformation Era", March 8 is not only an occasion for gratitude but also a powerful call for recognizing and supporting women in the new technological age. Women are progressively establishing their leadership in science, technology, economics, and politics. Nonetheless, they still face barriers ranging from social preconceptions to shortages of developmental opportunities.
Statistically, women make up nearly 50% of the global labor force, but female participation in information technology represents only about 25%. This underscores the urgency of fostering gender equality in education and training, particularly in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines.
SEMINAR "UNLOCKING THE ESSENCE OF HUST WOMEN" - INSPIRING STORIES!
As part of trade union activities for students celebrating March 8, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) held a seminar entitled “Unlocking the Essence of HUST Women” to impart essential life skills: setting clear objectives, cultivating study motivation, dynamic confidence; balancing professional work, love, and family; personal care and interpersonal magnetism; and direct Q&A interaction on real-world challenges with speakers.

Overview of the Seminar “Unlocking the Essence of HUST Women”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh - General Director of CECO, an alumna of HUST (Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering - Cohort K36), attended the seminar as an invited guest speaker. The seminar atmosphere was vibrant and engaging. Personal narratives from Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh and other distinguished HUST female alumnae regarding their academic journey, professional achievements, and self-affirmation in the engineering sector offered fresh perspectives and deep inspiration to the students.

Although the proportion of female students at HUST is modest compared to male students and other institutions, the unique "essence of HUST women" has never faded. They consistently exhibit resilience, perseverance, and growing leadership across technical fields.
