Technical Workshop on Green Hydrogen Technology & Applications

On May 8, 2026, in Hanoi, the Technical Workshop on Green Hydrogen Technology & Applications organized by Green Hydrogen Hub Viet Nam convened nearly 80 experts, businesses, research institutes, and students to discuss practical steps for the green hydrogen market in Vietnam.

The event demonstrated the growing interest of the business community in Vietnam towards green hydrogen alongside familiar renewable energy sources. To realize green hydrogen development in Vietnam, enterprises play a pivotal role in researching and deploying concrete solutions tailored to practical market conditions.

Key discussion points at the workshop included:

  • Digital transformation plays a crucial role in hydrogen system operations, particularly through AI SCADA solutions to optimize efficiency and safety.
  • Hydrogen market development is not merely a technological matter, but also requires foundational elements such as workforce development, safety training, and practical response capabilities.
  • Vietnam needs to strengthen linkages between policy, industry, and research institutions to execute concrete hydrogen projects.
  • Innovative ideas, such as the award-winning initiative by Vietnamese-German University students at the 2026 Green Hydrogen Innovation Competition – Hy-Truck, a mobile green hydrogen training model for universities, highlight youth engagement in this emerging field.
  • Furthermore, experts shared practical lessons and successful models regarding green methanol, green ammonia, and e-fuels, illustrating emissions reduction potential for hard-to-abate sectors like maritime and aviation.

The workshop established a multidimensional exchange platform for stakeholders across the green hydrogen ecosystem, spanning policy, engineering technology, market development, human resources, and international success stories.

This is the second workshop in the 2026 Green Hydrogen Workshop series organized by Green Hydrogen Hub Viet Nam. The event was held under the framework of Green Hydrogen Hub Viet Nam as part of the International Hydrogen Market Ramp-up Program (H2Uppp), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and implemented by GIZ.
