Information from the Gia Lai Market Surveillance Department<\/a> shows that recently the unit has continuously received information reported by business organisations and individuals in the province about fraudsters impersonating officials of the provincial Market Surveillance force and calling to announce that they will come to inspect business establishments and then demanding that money be prepared for the payment of fines.<\/p>\n

Specifically, an individual named Pham Trung Kien, with the phone number 0962.247.672, claiming to be an official of the Gia Lai Market Surveillance force, regularly telephones business organisations and individuals to announce that he will come to inspect their business establishments and asks them to prepare money to pay administrative violation fines. More sophisticatedly, this individual also suggests that business establishments transfer money through a bank account number (4347.888888) and then the inspection team will consider not conducting the inspection.<\/p>\n

On this matter, the leadership of the Gia Lai Provincial Market Surveillance Department affirmed that the unit does not notify inspections of business establishments by telephone and does not deploy or request establishments to prepare money for fines before carrying out the inspection and violation handling procedure of the force in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a violation of the law by individuals impersonating the Market Surveillance force for the purpose of fraud and personal gain<\/strong>, creating negative public opinion and affecting the image and reputation of the force\u201d, the leadership of the Gia Lai Market Surveillance Department emphasised and affirmed.<\/p>\n

In order to promptly prevent and guard against individuals impersonating officials and taking advantage of the lack of understanding and the trust of organisations and individuals to commit fraud in the above form, the Gia Lai Market Surveillance Department has requested localities, agencies and units in the province to coordinate in disseminating and widely communicating this information to production and trading establishments and to all people in the area.<\/p>\n

The Gia Lai Market Surveillance Department recommends that upon detecting individuals committing acts of impersonation and fraud as above, people immediately report the information to the Market Surveillance force<\/em> in the area or to the nearest police agency for timely handling in accordance with regulations.<\/p>\n

Under the provisions of Clause 1, Article 20 of the Ordinance on Market Surveillance, the Market Surveillance Department shall send the periodic inspection plan and the specialised inspection plan to the production and trading establishments to be inspected and to relevant agencies and organisations before the inspection, and shall publicly post the plan at the agency's headquarters. The conduct of inspection activities and the handling of administrative violations must comply with the regulations on public duty activities of the Market Surveillance force.<\/p>\n
